We are proud to announce that Mats Söderlund has been awarded the Karin Boye Literary Prize 2025 for his poetry collection Eskatos & the Stretched Necks of Stillness.
The prize recognises authors whose work reflects the spirit and literary legacy of Karin Boye. In its motivation, the jury praised Söderlund’s collection for its urgent and powerful portrayal of the earth we have inherited and humanity’s place within creation. Through evocative snapshots, memories, and striking depictions of nature, his poetry captures a movement that feels both profoundly real and deeply serious.
I am incredibly happy about the Karin Boye Literary Prize! I am moved and proud. I am honoured to be associated with both her writing and her humanistic commitment. I have read everything she has written, including her cultural journalism. I have carried Karin Boye’s voice and words within me since my teenage years, and traces of this can be found in all my books. I am delighted that Eskatos is contributing to the existential conversations about the future that we so desperately need right now, and it is wonderful to have this confirmed in such a way.
