After twenty years of murder mysteries and global success, the ‘queen of murder’ Viveca Sten takes an unexpected step into the feel-good genre. On 2 June, Helena’s Journey is released – a warm, romantic and life-affirming novel about daring to choose oneself – inspired by the author’s own yoga journey to India.

Viveca Sten is one of Sweden’s most successful authors, with over eleven million books sold in more than 60 countries and a 25-book anniversary behind her. Her series set in Sandhamn and Åre  have become global successes – both as books and TV series. Moving away from murder and criminal intrigue, she now makes room for love, inner journeys and new life choices.

Helena’s Journey is my most personal book to date. I travelled to India to practise yoga – and came home with a book. I am often inspired by the surroundings around me, and this story was born from a place and an experience that touched me deeply, says Viveca Sten.

Helena’s Journey is a warm, romantic feel-good novel about daring to leave the familiar and face the unknown.

The main character, Helena, is in the prime of her life when her seemingly secure marriage suddenly falls apart. With a broken heart, she leaves everything behind and travels alone to a yoga retreat in India. On the other side of the globe, in the Indian heat, she slowly regains her footing and a new strength emerges. Through new encounters, yoga and beautiful sunsets, she embarks on an inner journey that forces her to ask the crucial question: how does she actually want to live the rest of her life?

A new genre – with the same drive

Despite the change of genre, Viveca Sten brings with her the narrative drive of a crime writer. She brings the pace, the suspense and that page-turning feeling into the feel-good format.

– I wanted to write a love story with drive and edge. Even though there are no murders, there are crucial and emotional crossroads. Yoga and meditation also became a natural and central theme, just as in my own life, says Viveca.

This summer’s big page-turner

With strong characters, vivid descriptions of the setting and a gripping climax, Helena’s Journey is the perfect summer read – especially for anyone who has been longing for the next Viveca Sten novel, but in a completely new style.

Helena’s Journey is released on 2 June and is already set for publication in several countries.
