Three authors represented by Nordin Agency have been recognised on a newly published list of the most important Swedish non-fiction books of the 21st century.

The list, compiled by the book magazine Sikt, highlights the 25 best Swedish works of non-fiction published since the year 2000. The selection brings together books distinguished by their literary quality, originality and impact on Swedish public life.

Topping the list at number one is The Laser Man – A Story About Sweden by Gellert Tamas, widely regarded as a landmark work of investigative narrative non-fiction. The book explores the series of racially motivated shootings carried out in Sweden in the early 1990s and has become a defining account of one of the country’s most troubling modern chapters.

Also included is Elisabeth Åsbrink’s And in the Vienna Woods the Trees Remain, which appears at number 17. The critically acclaimed work reconstructs the life of a Jewish boy sent to Sweden, weaving together personal history and the broader story of Europe during the Second World War.

At number 21 is Fatima Bremmer’s award-winning biography Life in Every Breath, a portrait of the pioneering Swedish journalist Ester Blenda Nordström. The book has been widely praised for bringing renewed attention to one of Sweden’s most remarkable early twentieth-century reporters.

Nordin Agency warmly congratulates all three authors.
