In November of 2025, internationally bestselling crime writer Sara Blædel will publish her very first children’s book: The Notorious: The Mystery of the Blue Lady.
For years, readers have asked Sara whether she would ever write a suspense story for children. While she has always been inspired by the adventures of Enid Blyton’s Famous Five, Sara explains that, just like with her adult crime novels, inspiration cannot be forced. “I write the stories that spark my curiosity, that excite me, and that I can truly see unfolding before my eyes,” she says.
Last year, stepping back from her usual rhythm released an incredible burst of creative energy. That summer, the story of The Notorious suddenly came rushing in, and Sara spent her entire holiday writing what would become her first book for younger readers.
