Danish bookstore chain Bog & idé has announced the first nominees for the prestigious MARTHA Prize 2025 – and among them are two reader favourites: Sissel-Jo Gazan and Søren Sveistrup.
Gazan is nominated for In a Drop, the first book in her new crime series, while Sveistrup – known internationally for The Chestnut Man – is in the running with Count to One, Count to Two the latest in his Thulin & Hess series.
The MARTHA Prize is Denmark’s only fully public literary award, with the winner chosen entirely by reader votes. Voting opens on September 1st and runs throughout the month. The winner will be announced in October 2025.
