Gyldendal has just signed an agreement with author Katrine Engberg for her upcoming crime novels to be published by the publishing house.

Simon Pasternak, Publishing Director of Gyldendal Skønlitteratur, says:
“Katrine Engberg is one of Denmark’s biggest international crime stars, and it is with great pleasure that we can now welcome her to Gyldendal with a series of brand new novels with new characters, new mysteries and new stories. Katrine Engberg has a justifiably large audience, as she can make us empathise with her enigmatic and strangely lovable characters. She excels at writing surprising and extremely suspenseful stories where the past and our own secrets always play a major role. Engberg is an adventurous author driven by a constant urge to explore new things and see the world from different perspectives. We couldn’t imagine a better starting point for an inspiring and long-term collaboration. And we very much look forward to publishing her first novel at Gyldendal in autumn 2026.”

Katrine Engberg says:
To me, Gyldendal has always been a pillar of Danish cultural life, indeed, an institution. Tove Ditlevsen’s publisher, Karen Blixen’s, Suzanne Brøgger’s. A publishing house that truly loves literature and puts great care into it. Writing is a solitary job, and the few creative partners you have make all the difference. I feel I’ve found my home at Gyldendal, and I’m excited to see what we, together, can do with my authorship.

Katrine Engberg (b. 1975) made her crime writing debut in 2016 and has since published eight novels. Her books are sold in over 30 countries and have reached more than 1.5 million readers worldwide. Before becoming an author, Engberg worked as a professional dancer, choreographer, actress, and director.
