PIGEN FRA DET STORE HVIDE SKIB – THE GIRL FROM THE BIG WHITE SHIP

By Jesper Bugge Kold and Mich Vraa

The Girl from the Big White Ship is Jesper Bugge Kold and Mich Vraa’s new historical novel about life during a war and how friendships, romance, and hope arise despite it. The story follows young Molly Dahl on her life’s adventure aboard the hospital ship Jutlandia. She is one of forty-two nurses who will work on the ship to save the world. The year is 1951, and after the end of the war, Molly wants to leave the traumas of war and life in Denmark behind and start anew. Jutlandia is heading to South Korea and another war that has set several countries ablaze. In Korea, eleven-year-old Yun has lost literally everything. While napalm flames devour her home, her family, and the North Korean village where she grew up, she flees with two other children towards the south, right into the midst of the battlefield. Both Molly and Yun leave their lives behind in the hope of finding a new and better one in South Korea. However, for both, the journey becomes long and unpredictable. Their destinies intertwine in the South Korean port city of Pusan. But can Molly save Yun? And who will save Molly?
