By Negar Naseh & David Sandström
A farmer is found frozen to death at his homestead in Westrobothnia. When investigator Marita Widmark arrives at her childhood neighbourhood in Brännliden she stumbles over the unsolved case. Together with Bahar, a young colleague at the Umeå police station, she starts to unravel the mystery. As the investigation grows, the darker sides of the countryside are revealed: the conflicts, the exclusion and the lawlessness. Crimes are solved, convictions are made but the question remains: who is winning on the death of a farmer?
The author duo Negar Naseh and David Sandström debuts in the suspense genre with Death of a Farmer, the first instalment in The Brännliden Series.

REVIEWS
A well-written, vivid depiction of the sparsely populated countryside and an unusual crime mystery that is convincing right up to the unexpected resolution.
– The Swedish Crime Academy Jury
This is one of this year’s strongest crime debuts. […] A particularly well-written novel about not one, but rather many crimes…
– Dagens Nyheter
One can only congratulate Negar Naseh and David Sandström for finding their very own tone, their own linguistic twists and for writing a crime novel that’s absolutely impossible to resist. And which is convincing all the way to the unexpected resolution. Simply spotless.
– Skånska Dagbladet
An extremely well-written and unpredictable mystery, but above all it’s a portrayal of the Westrobothnian village that seethe with life and is at its best when it stops at the people in the village.
