BLINDGÅNG – BLIND ALLEY

By Marianne Fredriksson

A strange thing happens during an Advent Sunday in the church of Östmora. Two children, Anders and Sofia, are lifted up towards the roof of the church in the middle of the morning service. Hand in hand, they rise higher and higher until the roof lifts and they disappear into the sky. This causes a lot of changes, not only in the lives of the children, but also for many others. Anders is going through a rough period involving increasing insights. He was born blind, and knows that he is different and that he doesn’t understand the world around him in the same way other people do. Sofia is mature beyond her age and talented. She has many gifts and she has begun to understand how to use them. Behind the children are their families; normal, trustworthy people, facing challenges they do not know how to tackle.
