Imprudently wealthy for a social democrat, the cabinet minister once again puts his foot in it when an ordinary house purchase proves to be the starting point for a new murder mystery. Middletown politicians and risky romantic encounters are small potatoes compared to a cabinet minister caught smuggling. But all is well that ends well and the cabinet minister once again displays his blind ability to solve mysteries and entertain the reader.
