ALBERTE WINDING (b. 1963) IS the beloved author of a number of illustrated children’s books and made her adult fiction debut in 2008 with Tisvilde Beach. Since then, she has written two autobiographical novels as well as the 2023 novel What I Am Thinking While You Talk. Her memoir Squalls was nominated for the Readers’ Book Prize, and in 2006 she received the booksellers’ BMF Award. Part of a long artistic lineage—she is the great-great-granddaughter of painter Paul Gauguin—Winding is praised for her lyrical, intimate prose exploring memory, family, and longing. She lives in Copenhagen with her husband, musician Andreas Fuglebæk.
