KÆRLIGHEDSKYST — THE SHORE OF LOVE

by Anna Bridgewater

THE YEAR IS 1800, and the Napoleonic Wars are raging in Europe. Young Emma Hawkins lives a quiet life in the English coastal town of Deal, close to the white cliffs of Dover, while she waits for her fiancé to return home from the war. When Emma receives a letter informing her that her beloved has died, her future looks bleak. Her father can hardly work as a tailor anymore due to arthritis, her younger sister is rebellious and uncontrollable, and there is neither enough food nor money.

EMMA JUST WANTS to escape poverty and all her obligations. When the young Danish sailor Silas suddenly appears on the coast of Dover, fleeing from English soldiers, it becomes a fateful encounter for Emma. Suddenly, everything has changed and hope has been kindled in her heart.

BUT THE SMUGGLER John has plans for Emma, and when he discovers that Emma is trying to help the Danish sailor, she sees no other way out than to do as he says. To save Silas and her hope for love, Emma is forced to break all the rules—and to find a new and courageous side of herself.

THE SHORE OF LOVE is the first volume in the Shore of Love series.
