IN THE 1990s, a serial killer is on the loose in Kiruna and quickly earns the nickname “Kiruna Killer”. His victims are heavily pregnant women and no one survives, not the mothers and not their fetuses. Until the sixth attack, when the young woman Lydia Wrangel is murdered but her unborn son Dante miraculously survives. After that, the Kiruna Killer disappears without a trace.

DANTE IS ADOPTED by Kiruna’s richest and most powerful family, the Dreffling family. Sam senior Dreffling, with his daughter Emmeline and the rest of the family by his side, rules Kiruna as they have done for generations. Being a Dreffling means power and money, but also a lot of hate, and times have gotten worse and the situation in Kiruna is unsustainable.

SAM DREFFLING DECIDES to defy a century-old agreement with the Milton family that says the Drefflings must never set foot in Åre again. But these are new times, owning land means everything, and in Åre’s lands lie immense riches, worth fighting for.

THEN TRAGEDY STRIKES and a pregnant woman is murdered. Is the Kiruna Killer really back? Dante, who fled his family and now works as an influencer and lives in Stockholm with his girlfriend, decides to travel back to his hometown to find out the truth. He finds himself in the middle of a deadly power struggle that threatens to reveal terrible secrets.

KIRUNA KILLER IS the second part of the new parallel series “Killing Åre”, where we follow two different families in a life and death struggle for power and wealth in an Åre where nothing is what it used to be. The setting is an Åre where politics and crime go hand in hand in a constant quest for power and the hidden riches of the mountains. The audience gets to take part in two simultaneous book releases, where the first book gives us the Milton family’s perspective, and the second book the perspective of the Dreffling family. In Kiruna Killer, the Dreffling family is the focus.
