LIFE’S LITTLE PLEASURES – THE ART OF SWEDISH LIVING
By Sigge Eklund
For the past two years the author and podcaster Sigge Eklund has lived with his family in Los Angeles. Living in such close vicinity to nature and the ocean has sharpened his outlook, and now he has written a book about how he learned to live in the present.
In Life’s Little Pleasures he is meandering about in everyday moments, pausing and allowing himself to be seduced by scents and flavours, the unexpected meetings and moments of clarity. Even if today’s world can seem complicated, we can all allow ourselves to feel what he calls low-intensity happiness. The book is a celebration of all the small moments that can easily pass us by if we do not learn to savour them. The magic of life is all around us, if we can only learn to appreciate it. In the sleeping carriage of a train, on a bike ride, in a bathtub filled with bubbles, under an awning while it’s raining. Or in bed, falling asleep next to your dog.
Suggestive, sharp and with a strong presence, Sigge Eklund invites us into his everyday life and encourages us to pause and rediscover the small moments of joy that our lives are filled with.
