IN THE SECOND INSTALLMENT, set in 1964, you’ll meet the two friends again. They’re both happily married, but that certainly doesn’t mean their lives are without problems: one is involuntarily childless, the other just as involuntarily pregnant—a situation that doesn’t exactly bring harmony to the relationship between the two women, who are already struggling with their respective grumpy husbands, as well as a rebellious teenage daughter and a healthy dose of housewife boredom, respectively. Neither Vittoria nor Conny finds it easy to accept that their teenage dreams are over and that they must now be adults—for the rest of their lives.

THE WOMEN WE BECAME takes the reader to a Beatles concert at K.B. Hallen, to a confirmation party at the villa on Italiensvej, and on a package tour to Rome, where Vittoria is confronted with her past.
