P.C. Jersild was born in 1935 and is one of Sweden’s most loved novelists, his books include Children’s Island, House of Babel, A Living Soul, and After the River. He has been translated into many languages and has received a number of literary awards.

Jersild holds honorary doctorates from the Faculty of Medicine at Uppsala University and in engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology, as well as being a member of the Swedish Royal Academy of Sciences.
