ALLT VI INTE PRATAR OM – WE NEED TO TALK

By Ida Östensson & Thor Rutgersson

…Men are expected to be the toughest, the fastest and the strongest, to be the best. These are unreasonable demands that no person can face alone. Because of them, tears are suppressed with alcohol, anxiety is turned into mental or physical violence towards others and many men leave their family and their children – either through substance abuse or suicide (or just by running away).
In short: The patriarchy SUCKS, for everyone.
Ida Östensson

What would you like to talk about if nobody judged you? We need to talk is a book that’s supposed to inspire guys and men to start talking about things that they traditionally do not talk about.

Topics such as love, violence, escapism, self-image, sex and friendships are addressed through open-hearted, exposing conversations. With each chapter follows tips and conversation guides for men to use with their friends or partners.

In the aftermaths of #metoo, we need to recognize those old ideas of how to define masculinity are hurting our society in more ways than one. All men might not hurt women, but all men are hurting from patriarchal structures.

It’s about time to make a change, it’s time for men and boys to learn how to talk to each other and stop oppressing who they really are to fit into a narrow-minded gender role. The first step: start talking.
