Donia Saleh is one of the most compelling literary voices to emerge in Swedish fiction in recent years. Born in 1996, she is a novelist, cultural critic, and teacher, with a background in literary composition from HDK-Valand. Her writing moves confidently between the personal and the political, marked by a sharp eye, linguistic intensity, and a fearless engagement with contemporary questions of identity, power, and belonging.
She made her acclaimed debut with Ya Leila (2020), a novel that immediately drew critical attention for its precision and emotional depth. The book was nominated for both the Borås Tidning Debut Prize and the Katapult Prize, establishing Saleh as a writer of rare clarity and ambition from the outset.
Her second novel, Bile Red (2024), further solidified her position as a major voice in contemporary literature. For its uncompromising language and bold choices, Saleh has received several prestigious literary honors, including the Ingela Lind Prize and the 2025 Mare Kandre Prize, awarded to authors whose writing is experimental, original, and artistically daring. She has also been the recipient of a grant from the Albert Bonniers Foundation for Young Authors.
Alongside her fiction, Saleh is an active cultural commentator, contributing essays and criticism to leading Swedish media. Her work is united by a precise, intelligent voice and a strong ethical core, making her writing resonate far beyond national borders.
Nordin Agency is proud to represent Donia Saleh and her growing body of work internationally.
