New play by John Ajvide Lindqvist

John Ajvide Lindqvist’s play A Heart in Times Like These (Ett hjärta i dagens läge) is currently touring Sweden with Riksteatern.

And the text really gets under your skin. Because A Heart in Times Like These is a dark play, but not without hope. It dares to look at the grotesque aspects of our times without losing sight of the human being caught up in it all. Perhaps that is why it hits so hard.

The unsettling interrogation drama follows Lisa, a woman approaching seventy who is accused of a serious crime. As she begins to tell her story during a police interrogation, the balance of power gradually shifts and reality starts to unravel.

The play reunites John Ajvide Lindqvist with director Anna Takanen, who previously directed his play De obehöriga in Stockholm in 2019, where the character Lisa first appeared. Ann Petrén and Anna Wallander star in the production.

A Heart in Times Like These is touring across Sweden throughout autumn 2026.
