The latest review for Simona Ahrnstedt’s novel The Scandalous (De skandalösa) comes from LitteraturMagazinet in Sweden. Emma Kreü writes that Simona represents the type of Romance where humour mixed with classical elements are combined with modern markers. The author thereby removes the traditional gender roles and poor attitude towards women, that are typically seen in the genre, from her own novels and elevates her writing above many other Romance authors. Kreü continues to say that The Scandalous is a novel where
Love, entanglements and passion on several different levels, combined with characters that have both self-distance, humour and maturity, contribute to a successful mix and a fun read. Simply put, Romance for 21st Century readers.

When the Soviet Union collapsed the country’s assets were sold to a select clique of wily Russians who became incredibly wealthy in the process. The predatory economy that grew out of this included everything from corruption, criminality, kidnappings and murders. One person who has seen the negatives is Paul Leander-Engström and it is his experiences that are the basis for a bloody, breakneck story about financial sharks, oligarchs, dictatorial politicians and Swedish businessmen.
