Larsmo, Ola
Ola Larsmo, born 1957, was raised in Västervik but now counts Uppsala as his home. He made his debut in 1983 with the novella
Vindmakaren
(The Wind Maker) and has since produced a number of novels, along with essay collection
Odysséer
(Odysseys) and short story collection
Stumheten
(The Dumbness). His more recent novels are often set against a historical backdrop with documentary features.
In addition to his authorship, he is also an arts journalist and a social commentator, primarily in Dagens Nyheter. He also has extensive knowledge of Norwegian and Irish literature. From 1985 to 1990 he was the editor of Bonnier’s Literary Magazine.
In 1991, he was presented with newspaper Göteborgs-Posten’s literary award. Novel
Maroonberget
(The Maroon Mountain) was awarded with magazine Vi’s literature prize in 1996.
